Jamie Redknapp issues Chelsea and Liverpool warning to Arsene Wenger
The former Tottenham man says Chelsea and Liverpool are Arsenal's biggest threat in the title race
Jamie Redknapp says Chelsea and Liverpool represent the biggest obstacle to Arsenal’s hopes of winning the Premier League title this season.
The Gunners are looking to end a 13-year-old trophy drought in the 2016-17 season after failing to lift the Premier League trophy since their infamous 2003-04 unbeaten campaign.
Arsenal signed five players in the summer transfer window as Arsene Wenger looked to mould his squad into title winners, including Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka and German defender Shkodran Mustafi.
However, Chelsea and Liverpool have been the early pace-setters with some outstanding attacking performances under their respective managers Antonio Conte and Jurgen Klopp.
Arsenal lost 4-3 to the Merseyside outfit in their opening 2016-17 Premier League fixture at The Emirates before a 3-0 home win against the Blues.
Former Tottenham midfielder Redknapp believes Chelsea and Liverpool will be the biggest threat to Arsenal’s hopes of winning an elusive Premier League title.
“The two big dangers in the title race are Chelsea and Liverpool,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“You don’t normally get two sides that good who aren’t in the Champions League, and this year we have seen all the Champions League teams struggle after their European games. Chelsea and Liverpool are such a threat because they can be fresh every week.”
Arsenal drew 2-2 with Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League in midweek before their 3-1 win over Bournemouth on Sunday.
The Gunners are unbeaten in 12 Premier League games since a 4-3 loss to Liverpool.
