Jamie Redknapp: This is my major concern about Chelsea under Antonio Conte
Jamie Redknapp has his say on Chelsea's strong start to the season under Antonio Conte
Jamie Redknapp admits that he has been impressed with Chelsea’s strong start to the season, but admits that he fears the Blues could struggle if hit by injuries to key players.
The west London side have been the Premier League’s standout performers in recent weeks under their new boss, with Chelsea currently leading the way at the top of the Premier League table.
Chelsea came from a goal down to beat bitter local rivals Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night to keep their place on top of the table and stretch their winning run to seven games.
Redknapp has been very impressed by what he has seen from the Blues so far this term but has questioned whether Chelsea would be able to cope with injuries to their star men.
Writing in his column for The Daily Mail, Redknapp said: “Chelsea have been formidable in recent weeks but my worry for them is injuries.
“They have been very fortunate not playing in Europe — Saturday’s victory over Tottenham was the sixth match in a row that Antonio Conte has fielded an unchanged starting XI.
“These Chelsea players are used to playing a Champions League campaign every season so they will be feeling very fresh.
“Diego Costa has been so crucial to their success while wing-backs Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso have been sensational.”
Chelsea now turn their attentions towards their crunch Premier League clash against Manchester City at The Etihad on Saturday afternoon as they look to keep up their winning run.
