John Aldridge issues warning to Jurgen Klopp ahead of Liverpool v Sunderland
The Liverpool legend doesn't want Jurgen Klopp's side to drop points against the Premier League strugglers
John Aldridge has warned Liverpool that Sunderland will be revitalised by their recent run ahead of Saturday’s clash at Anfield.
The Black Cats have pieced together some decent form in recent weeks after racking up back-to-back Premier League victories.
Sunderland were 2-1 winners against Bournemouth before the international break and David Moyes’ side beat Hull City 3-0 last weekend.
Liverpool were forced to settle for a goalless draw with Southampton in their last Premier League outing.
However, the Reds have scored 17 times in five Premier League games at Anfield in the 2016-17 season so far.
The 18-time English champions were 6-1 winners against Watford before the international break thanks to an impressive attacking display.
However, former Liverpool striker Aldridge doesn’t want Klopp’s side to underestimate the Black Cats ahead of Saturday’s clash at Anfield.
“At the end of the season we will know if Liverpool have solved their problem of dropping points against the teams at the lower end of the table,” Aldridge told The Liverpool Echo.
“I certainly hope they have but Sunderland travel to Anfield on the weekend on the back of two wins on the bounce.
“They will be revitalised and have a bit more belief so it won’t be as easy as perhaps it was a month or two ago.
“But we have just got to do what we’re good at.
“Lallana will probably be missing again I think Daniel Sturridge could be the solution – we are at home and I think he will get the nod.”
Liverpool are in second place in the Premier League table and a point behind Antonio Conte’s in-form Chelsea side in the title race.
Only Manchester United have managed to avoid a defeat at Anfield in the Premier League this season.
