Jose Mourinho admits he cannot understand this at Man United

Jose Mourinho admits his frustration about Manchester United's stuttering form in the Premier League

Jose Mourinho has admitted that he cannot understand how Manchester United have failed to win some of their recent Premier League games.

The Red Devils were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Arsenal last weekend despite the Red Devils dominating proceedings and taking the lead through Juan Mata in the second half.

Mourinho’s men were pegged back right at the death when Olivier Giroud came off the bench to head home an equaliser.

The result was an unwelcome one for United, who have struggled to string together consistent performances in the Premier League under Mourinho so far this season.

It left Mourinho’s men nine points behind leaders Chelsea after 12 games of the season, with a top-four finish now looking the likely target ahead of a title challenge.

And Mourinho has admitted that he cannot explain why United have not been doing better in recent weeks.

The Manchester United manager told a news conference on Wednesday: “The job is as difficult as I was expecting.

“I said at the same time as saying I wanted to win the Premier League this year I knew the risk.

“But again, just focusing on the last three matches at home my question is how was it possible that we didn’t win.

“With these six points we would be now in the top four, very close to the first and the second, so the difficult thing to accept is we played so well and didn’t win these three matches.”
