Jose Mourinho delivers verdict on new Man United signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Jose Mourinho has his say on Zlatan Ibrahimovic's start to life at Manchester United
Jose Mourinho has insisted that he has been thrilled with Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s impact at Manchester United this season.
The veteran Swedish striker started the season strongly after arriving at Old Trafford on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.
However, the 35-year-old impact has waned in recent weeks and the forward had not scored a goal since the 1-0 win over Zorya back in September ahead of Sunday’s trip to Swansea City.
Ibrahimovic’s ability to cut it at the top level in the Premier League has been questioned in recent weeks.
However, Mourinho insists that he has been very pleased by what he has seen from Ibrahimovic so far this season.
Speaking at a news conference ahead of Sunday’s trip to Swansea, Mourinho said: “He is playing well for the team. He’s creating a lot of chances but missing a lot of goals.
“If I remember the games against Stoke, Liverpool, Chelsea and Burnley, he missed a lot of goals but he was fantastic in his dynamic, his working, his building up for the team.
“Against Fenerbahce I cannot say the same. But in every match in the Premier League, even when he’s not been scoring goals, he’s being fantastic.
“His attitude is always brilliant. He’s not a guy afraid of his responsibility, so no problem at all.”
Manchester United, who finished fifth and won the FA Cup last season, return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch home clash against Arsenal at Old Trafford in the top flight.
