Jose Mourinho reacts to Henrikh Mkhitaryan display in Man United’s win over Feyenoord
The Manchester United boss was very impressed by Henrikh Mkhitaryan's display on Thursday night
Jose Mourinho lavished praise on Henrikh Mkhitaryan after he was named man of the match in Manchester United’s 4-0 win over Feyenoord in the Europa League on Thursday night.
It has been a difficult start to life at Old Trafford for the Armenia international since his arrival at the club from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.
However, the 27-year-old went some way towards proving his worth to the Red Devils when he produced an impressive display in the victory over the Dutch side.
Mkhitaryan featured for 82 minutes as the Red Devils secured a comfortable European win to move them a step closer towards reaching the last 32 of the Europa League.
And Mourinho was delighted both by Mkhitaryan’s display and the reception that he was given by fans at Old Trafford.
Mourinho is quoted as saying by United’s website: “The reception [from the fans] he deserved because he played very well.
“Always improving, improving, improving, improving until the moment he was really tired and I felt it was the right moment to take him off and to let him come off with a very good performance.
“It was important for his confidence and he will try to keep adapting and trying to replicate this kind of quality performance in the Premier League which is a competition with different difficulties.”
Manchester United now turn their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their clash with West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
