Jose Mourinho sends message to Henrikh Mkhitaryan ahead of Man United v Feyenoord
Jose Mourinho reveals that he plans to start Henrikh Mkhitaryan for Manchester United against Feyenoord on Thursday
Jose Mourinho has told Henrikh Mkhitaryan that he must prove himself when given a chance to impress for Manchester United against Feyenoord on Thursday night.
The playmaker has struggled for form and fitness since his arrival at Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.
Mkhitaryan has only made six competitive appearances for United so far this season but will be hoping to feature when the Red Devils host the Dutch side in Thursday’s crunch clash at Old Trafford.
The Armenia international is yet to prove himself as worthy of a spot in the United first team, and Mourinho has revealed that he plans to give him a chance to shine on Thursday night.
Mourinho is quoted as saying by United’s website: “I told him today [Saturday] that he is going to be involved in the game against Feyenoord. He is trying.
“Obviously he is not happy but he is transforming his frustration in a good way, which is to close the mouth, work hard and try to adapt.”
United were pegged back and held to a 1-1 draw by Arsenal at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday, when Olivier Giroud cancelled out Juan Mata’s opening goal.
