Jose Mourinho: This is what the Man United dressing room was like after Arsenal draw
Jose Mourinho lifts the lid on how his Manchester United players were feeling after their 1-1 draw with Arsenal
Jose Mourinho has revealed that his Manchester United players were very quiet after the disappointment of their 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Saturday.
The Red Devils dominated proceedings at Old Trafford against the Gunners and looked to be heading towards victory when Juan Mata drilled home the opener in the 68th minute.
However, the home side were pegged back late on when Olivier Giroud came off the bench to head home Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s cross and earn Arsenal a point.
The result was a disappointment for United considering the manner in which they dominated proceedings at Old Trafford against the Gunners.
And Mourinho has lifted the lid on how his players were feeling after the final whistle.
Speaking in an interview with MUTV, Mourinho said: “The players are quiet. They feel like it is a defeat and they are very disappointed.
“But I told them, the worse feeling is when you are upset with yourself because you didn’t perform or you made big mistakes, but they cannot have that feeling.
“They have to be proud with what they did, but obviously they are very disappointed because we lost two points against a very good team that did not have a shot [on target].”
Manchester United now turn their attentions back to Europa League affairs and their home clash against Dutch side Feyenoord on Thursday night.
The Red Devils finished fifth and won the FA Cup last season.
