Jose Mourinho told to start playing this Man United midfielder
Rio Ferdinand wants to see Michael Carrick given more of a chance at Manchester United this season
Rio Ferdinand has urged Jose Mourinho to start playing Michael Carrick for Manchester United this season.
The English midfielder has barely featured for the Red Devils this term under the new man in charge at Old Trafford despite being one of the experience members of Mourinho’s squad.
Carrick is yet to start a Premier League game this season under Mourinho and it remains to be seen whether the midfielder can earn a regular spot in the United team.
There has been much debate about who Mourinho should partner new signing Paul Pogba with in the heart of United’s midfield.
And former United defender Ferdinand wants to see Carrick be given more of a regular run in the Manchester United first team.
Writing in his column for The London Evening Standard, Ferdinand said: “For me, Carrick has to play more. He can feed the attacking players quicker and more precisely than anyone else in that squad.”
Manchester United return to Premier League action this weekend with a clash against Swansea City as they look to win their first top-flight game in four outings.
