Juan Mata sends message to Man United fans after Arsenal draw
Juan Mata has his say after Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Saturday
Juan Mata has told Manchester United’s fans to remain positive despite the disappointment of Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal.
Mata helped Manchester United take control of the game when he drilled home the opener in the 68th minute at Old Trafford to put the home side ahead.
However, Arsenal – who were second-best for much of the game – earned a point when Olivier Giroud came off the bench to head home an equaliser late on.
The result was a frustrating one for the Red Devils and marked their third successive draw in front of their home fans.
However, Spanish playmaker Mata was looking for the positives after the game as he and his team-mates now turn their attentions back to Europa League affairs on Thursday night.
Mata told United’s website: “We feel the same. We’ve had three games, three draws. I honestly feel that we have deserved to win these games and we would have had nine points instead of three and be really close to the top.
“But we have to be positive, think about the performance and keep playing like this to get the points.”
Manchester United – who finished fifth in the Premier League last season – will host Dutch side Feyenoord at Old Trafford on Thursday night when they return to European action.
