Kevin Kilbane: This Burnley striker is better than Tottenham signing
The former Irish defender says Tottenham signing Vincent Janssen isn't as good as Burnley's Sam Vokes
Sam Vokes is a better Premier League striker than Tottenham Hotspur signing Vincent Janssen, according to Kevin Kilbane.
The Netherlands international has struggled to transfer his Eredivisie form to the Premier League following his £19m move to Tottenham from AZ Alkmaar in the summer transfer window.
Mauricio Pochettino persisted with Janssen for the visit of West Ham United last weekend before the striker was replaced by Son Heung-min in the second half at White Hart Lane.
The South Korea international went on to help inspire Spurs to a 3-2 victory over the Hammers as Harry Kane netted twice in the closing minutes of the London derby.
Janssen has scored one Premier League in 12 appearances this season after he scored from the penalty spot in a 1-1 draw with Leicester City at White Hart Lane.
Burnley striker Vokes, on the other hand, has netted four times and has made one assist in 11 Premier League starts for the promoted side.
Former Republic of Ireland defender Kilbane explained why he believes Vokes is a better player than £19m-rated Janssen.
“He doesn’t look like he is going to get a goal. He looks heavy. He was playing second tier of Dutch football a few seasons ago. You can see it. He is like a Sam Vokes. At the moment, he doesn’t look as good as Sam Vokes,” Kilbane told Newstalk’s Off The Ball podcast.
