Arsene Wenger delivers updates on Mathieu Debuchy and Olivier Giroud after Arsenal's 3-1 win at The Emrates
Arsene Wenger has revealed that Arsenal had injury concerns about both Mathieu Debuchy and Olivier Giroud after Sunday’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth.
Debuchy was forced off early in the first half of the Premier League game with a suspected muscle injury.
And speaking at his post match news conference after the game, Wenger is quoted as saying by The Daily Express: “Mathieu is worried it’s a severe one but I have to speak to our medical staff first.”
Meanwhile, striker Giroud was spotted looking in pain after the final whistle in Sunday’s game as he was attended to by Arsenal’s medical staff.
According to The Daily Express, Wenger said that he was hopeful that Giroud’s setback was not serious but that he was unsure about how serious his problem was.
Arsenal are currently gearing up for their League Cup clash against Southampton at The Emirates on Wednesday night as they bid to reach the semi-finals of the cup competition.
Sunday’s 3-1 win left the Gunners fourth in the Premier League and three points behind leaders Liverpool after 13 games.
