Liverpool legend makes exciting prediction about Jurgen Klopp’s side in title race
The Liverpool legend expects Jurgen Klopp's side to challenge for the Premier League title until the end of the season
Liverpool can maintain their high standards in the Premier League title race until the end of the 2016-17 season, according to Jan Molby.
The Reds hoisted themselves to the top of the Premier League table ahead of the international break thanks to a 6-1 win against Watford at Anfield.
Liverpool have scored a staggering 30 goals in 11 Premier League games this season – more than any other top-flight club.
The Merseyside outfit haven’t lost a game since a surprise 2-0 defeat by promoted side Burnley at Turf Moor in their second Premier League fixture of the current campaign.
Speaking to Liverpool’s website ahead of their trip to Southampton on Saturday afternoon, Molby issued his backing for Klopp’s side Reds side in the title race.
“It’s a long way to go and we know it will be extremely competitive right until the end of the season,” Molby said. “Good managers get the best from their players and that’s what Klopp has managed to do.
“I don’t think it’s something that is about to change and I think we have set standards now and we will continue to get close to that level right until the end of the season.”
Liverpool finished in eighth place in the Premier League table last season after Klopp was appointed as Brendan Rodgers’ successor in October 2015.
The former Borussia Dortmund boss led the Reds to two cup finals but Liverpool suffered disappointment in the League Cup and the Europa League showpieces.
