Ian Wright states prediction for Liverpool v Sunderland
The Arsenal legend is backing Liverpool to ease to a comfortable win against Sunderland on Saturday
Ian Wright is confident Liverpool will ease to a comfortable win against Sunderland at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Merseyside club are in second place in the Premier League table and a point adrift of leaders Chelsea after 12 top-flight games.
The Reds were forced to settle for a goalless stalemate with Southampton at St Mary’s in the Premier League last weekend.
The 18-time English champions haven’t lost a Premier League game since a 2-0 defeat by Burnley in their second game of the 2016-17 season.
Sunderland have found their feet in recent weeks after back-to-back Premier League victories over Bournemouth and Hull City.
However, former Arsenal striker Wright is tipping Jurgen Klopp’s side to ease to an emphatic win against the Black Cats on Saturday afternoon.
“I can’t see anything but Liverpool winning here. This is a game I think where Liverpool will bounce back,” Wright told The Sun Goals podcast.
“They were unlucky against Southampton. I can’t see them going into this game with anything but a lot of confidence.”
Liverpool have collected 13 points from their five Premier League games at a newly-revamped Anfield stadium in the 2016-17 season so far.
The Merseyside outfit have only dropped points in a goalless draw with bitter rivals Manchester United in October.
