Paul Merson states prediction for Liverpool v Sunderland
The Arsenal legend is backing Liverpool to ease to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Sunderland on Saturday afternoon
Paul Merson is backing Liverpool to ease to a comfortable 3-0 win against Sunderland at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds will return to Premier League action against David Moyes’ struggling Sunderland side after last weekend’s disappointing goalless draw with Southampton at St Mary’s.
Liverpool are a point adrift of leaders Chelsea after Antonio Conte’s side managed to hoist themselves above the Merseyside club thanks to a 1-0 win against Middlesbrough.
The Merseyside club are unbeaten in the Premier League at Anfield this season after comfortable victories over Leicester City, Hull City, Watford and West Brom.
Only Manchester United have left the red half of Merseyside with a point after their goalless stalemate at Anfield in October.
Former Arsenal midfielder Merson can’t see past a comfortable Liverpool win against Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
“Again, with the big boys, they have got to win. There is no point drawing – draws are no good,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“I know Sunderland have turned a corner a bit but I think this will be a corner too far for them so for that reason I would expect Liverpool to win.”
Liverpool haven’t lost a Premier League game since a 2-0 defeat by Burnley at Turf Moor in their second fixture of the 2016-17 campaign.
The Reds finished in eighth place in the Premier League table under Jurgen Klopp last term.
