Ray Parlour states prediction for Liverpool v Sunderland
The Arsenal legend is backing Liverpool to ease to a comfortable victory over Sunderland on Saturday afternoon
Ray Parlour is backing Liverpool to ease to a comfortable win against Sunderland despite expecting the Black Cats to set up defensively.
David Moyes’ side have managed to kindle some decent Premier League form in recent weeks after back-to-back Premier League victories.
Sunderland were 2-1 winners against Bournemouth before a 4-0 victory against relegation rivals Hull City at the Stadium of Light last time out.
Liverpool were held to a goalless draw with Southampton at St Mary’s in their last Premier League game but managed to extend their unbeaten run to 10 top-flight games.
Former Arsenal midfielder Parlour says he can’t see past a Liverpool win despite Sunderland’s recent resurgence.
“Sunderland will make it hard. David Moyes will set his stall out especially being at Anfield,” Parlour told the Alan Brazil Up Front podcast.
“The players going forward have been superb. The 0-0 draw at Southampton was disappointing with the chances that they had. But Jurgen Klopp will know they’ll get games like that. He will say to his players that if they create that many chances at Anfield this weekend, they’ll win comfortably. I’ve got a home win.”
Liverpool can move to the top of the Premier League table on Saturday afternoon ahead of Chelsea’s clash against title rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the London derby in the day’s late kick-off.
The Reds finished in eighth place in the Premier League table last season after Jurgen Klopp took over the reins from Brendan Rodgers in October 2015.
