Matt Le Tissier makes promising prediction about Man United signing

The Southampton legend delivers his verdict on Manchester United signing Eric Bailly

Matt Le Tissier is backing Eric Bailly to blossom into a very good Manchester United centre-half.

The Red Devils signed the Ivory Coast international in a £30m deal from La Liga outfit Villarreal in the summer transfer window as Bailly became the first signing of the Jose Mourinho era.

The 24-year-old centre-half made an impressive start at the centre of the Manchester United defence alongside first Dutch star Daley Blind and then England defender Chris Smalling.

However, Bailly suffered a serious knee injury in the second half of Manchester United’s humbling 4-0 loss to Chelsea in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge in October.

Former Southampton midfielder Le Tissier says he has been impressed with Bailly’s impact at Manchester United in spite of his injury setback.

“I think he’ll turn into a very good centre-back. He’s obviously injured at the moment but I think he’ll be a very good signing for them in the long term,” Le Tissier told Sky Sports.

Manchester United signed four players in the summer transfer window after Mourinho was appointed as Louis van Gaal’s successor in May.
