Matt Le Tissier: What I like about this Arsenal defender
The Southampton legend talks up Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny
Matt Le Tissier has likened Arsenal centre-half Laurent Koscielny to an old-school English defender.
The France international has been a mainstay of Arsene Wenger’s back four in recent seasons despite having a number of different centre-half partners in the Gunners defence.
Koscielny has struck up a promising partnership with Germany centre-half Shkodran Mustafi after the 24-year-old moved to Arsenal in a £35m deal from La Liga side Valencia in the summer.
Former Southampton legend Le Tissier explained why he is such a big fan of the Arsenal defender.
“He’s almost like an old school centre-back. I like him a lot and he has been very consistent this season,” Le Tissier told Sky Sports.
The 31-year-old moved to Arsenal in a £9m deal from French side Lorient in 2010, taking over the number six shirt from Philippe Senderos.
Koscielny has scored 22 times in 260 appearances in all competitions during his six-season stay at the Emirates Stadium.

The French defender has won two FA Cup crowns during his Arsenal career but the Premier League title continues to elude Koscielny.
The Gunners finished in second place in the 2016-17 Premier League campaign.
