Michael Carrick reacts to Antonio Valencia’s display in Man United v Arsenal
Michael Carrick has his say about Antonio Valencia's performance against Arsenal on Saturday
Michael Carrick was full of praise for Antonio Valencia following his man of the match display for Manchester United against Arsenal on Saturday.
The Ecuador international was restored to the starting line-up by Jose Mourinho against the Gunners after recovering from a broken arm quicker than expected.
Valencia was one of United’s standout players against the Gunners and was named as the man of the match for his impressive performance against Arsene Wenger’s men.
And Carrick had nothing but positive things to say about Valencia after the final whistle.
Speaking in an interview with MUTV, Carrick said: “Antonio has been incredible at right-back since he has moved to that position.
“He just looks so dangerous going forward but, at the same time, he is so solid defensively.
“His positional play has improved a lot and I think that’s told. He has been our best player in a lot of our games this season.
“To come back so quick from a broken bone speaks volumes for him and his attitude to get back and play.
Manchester United took the lead against Arsenal when Juan Mata drilled home a low shot in the 68th minute.
