Michael Owen: Man United should target these two strikers
The former Liverpool and Man United striker names two potential targets for Jose Mourinho
Michael Owen believes Manchester United should look to sign Edinson Cavani or Antoine Griezmann in the January transfer window.
Jose Mourinho’s side have been regularly linked with a move for the Atletico Madrid striker since Jose Mourinho took over the reins at Old Trafford.
Griezmann has already scored 11 times and has made four assists in 11 La Liga appearances under Diego Simeone in the 2016-17 season.
Cavani, meanwhile, scored in Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Uruguay international has netted 11 times in 11 Ligue 1 appearances so far to underline his status as one of Europe’s leading goal-scorers.
Speaking to BT Sport ahead of Manchester United’s 4-0 win against Feyenoord on Thursday night, Owen highlighted Cavani and Griezmann as two possible targets for Mourinho.
“Griezmann is great. I really like Cavani. I don’t think he’s the best finisher in the world but I’ve not seen anybody with movement like his,” Owen told BT Sport.
“If he could finish as well as some of the top strikers around then he would be right at the top of my list. Great movement and that’s one thing that Ibrahimovic hasn’t got.”
The Red Devils are in second place in their Europa League group ahead of the trip to Zorya Luhansk thanks to their 4-0 win against Feyenoord.
Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and a Brad Jones own goal sealed three points for the 20-time English champions.
