Michael Owen poses question about Arsenal ahead of Bournemouth clash
Michael Owen delivers his verdict on Arsenal ahead of Sunday's clash with Bournemouth at The Emirates
Michael Owen has questioned whether Arsenal have the top quality needed to beat the best teams in Europe.
The Gunners suffered a severe blow to their hopes of topping their Champions League group on Wednesday night when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Paris Saint-Germain at The Emirates.
The result left the Gunners likely to finish second in Group A and potentially face a tougher task in the last 16 of Europe’s elite club competition.
Arsenal have become known for not producing their best form in November, and Owen discussed the Gunners’ current form after Wednesday’s game.
Speaking on BT Sport after the clash, former Liverpool striker Owen said: “Everyone will have their different take and certainly Arsenal fans will have their take on why [they are struggling in November again].
“They consistently do this, so is it a one-off or not? They struggle against the best teams most of the time – they beat Basel and Ludogorets. But it’s very hard for them to go and dominate the big teams.
“They might just be short of absolute top class at the moment.”
Arsenal now turn their attentions back to Premier League affairs and their home clash against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners, who finished second in the top flight last term, have drawn their last two games against Tottenham and Manchester United 1-1.
