Michael Owen sends message to Arsenal fans after PSG draw
Michael Owen feels that Arsenal's 2-2 draw with PSG is not the end of the world for the Gunners
Michael Owen has told Arsenal’s supporters to remain positive despite the disappointment of their 2-2 draw against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.
The result means Arsenal are likely to end up second in Group A and behind PSG ahead of the draw for the last 16 of the Champions League.
Speaking on BT Sport immediately after the final whistle, former Liverpool striker Owen said: “That was the big chance tonight. Even at 1-1 it would have been a decent result.
“I think they [Arsenal] are destined for second place, which is unfortunate.
“But you never know, it’s a free draw in the next round and they might get lucky.”
Arsenal fell behind in the first half when Edinson Cavani finished from close range.
The Gunners were outplayed in the first half but clawed their way back into the game when Olivier Giroud scored his penalty after Alexis Sanchez was fouled in the box.
Arsenal improved after the break and took the lead in the 60th minute when Marco Verratti scored an own-goal following some sustained pressure from the home side.
But PSG drew level 13 minutes from time when Lucas Moura headed in to leave them likely to claim top spot in the group.
