Michael Owen: What I really think about Arsenal this season
Michael Owen delivers his honest assessment on Arsenal after their draw with PSG on Wednesday night
Michael Owen believes that Arsenal do not have the quality to win the Premier League or Champions League this season.
The north London side stuttered to their third successive draw in all competitions on Wednesday night when they were pegged back and held to a 2-2 draw by PSG in the Champions League at The Emirates.
Arsenal had previously been held to 1-1 draws in the Premier League by Tottenham and Manchester United to dent their top-flight title hopes.
The Gunners are currently fourth in the Premier League and three points behind leaders Chelsea after 12 games of the new season.
Former Liverpool striker Owen believes that some of the criticism aimed Arsenal’s way has been unjustified since Wednesday’s draw.
However, the ex-England international is expecting to see the Gunners come up short in both of the major competitions this season.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Many in the media were suggesting the Gunners are inconsistent after their fortunate draw with PSG in midweek – I couldn’t disagree more.
“Arsenal are excellent against inferior teams but are just short of the very best not only in Europe but in the Premier League.
“They are a good side with quality players but just not good enough to win the Premier League or Champions League.”
