Pat Nevin issues stark warning to Chelsea ahead of Tottenham clash
Chelsea are preparing for Premier League games against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City
Pat Nevin has warned Chelsea not to get carried away about their position at the top of the Premier League table.
The Blues moved to the top of the pile for the first time since they last won the title in 2015 at the weekend thanks to their 1-0 win over Middlesbrough on Sunday afternoon.
Chelsea have been in sublime form in recent weeks and have brushed aside the likes of Everton and Manchester United to climb the Premier League table.
However, the west London club will now face a stern test of their title credentials when they take on Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, before a trip to Manchester City the weekend after that.
Chelsea have lost games against the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool so far this season.
And Nevin feels that Chelsea are set to be properly tested when they come up against Spurs and the Citizens.
Writing in his column for Chelsea’s website, Nevin said: “Spurs at home and Man City away will be interesting for every football fan, because even though Chelsea have won six league games in a row, are ahead 17-0 in goals in that period, (over 10 hours and counting since losing a goal in the league), there is still the thought of those games we lost against Arsenal and Liverpool lurking at the back of everyone’s minds.
“Six points would be great and Antonio will go for them but in the circumstances two, three or four out of six would not be that bad.
“It should help us a little this weekend that Spurs have a must-win Champions league match in Monaco tonight to recover from.”
