Pat Nevin: Why Chelsea fans will not be happy about Arsenal goal
Pat Nevin reflects on the weekend's Premier League results and what they mean for Chelsea
Pat Nevin has admitted that Chelsea’s fans will not have been happy to see Arsenal score a late equaliser at Manchester United on Saturday.
The Gunners were outplayed for much of the game at Old Trafford before they managed to claw their way back into the game thanks to Olivier Giroud’s late header against Jose Mourinho’s men.
The goal rescued a point for Arsene Wenger’s men as the Gunners continue their search for their first top-flight title since 2004.
However, Chelsea legend Nevin feels that Arsenal are clearly a threat to the Blues in the Premier League title race – as are Manchester United.
Writing in his column for Chelsea’s website, Nevin said: “The late Arsenal equaliser was probably not welcomed by Chelsea fans looking at the current league table, but I think it may not have been the worst thing in the long term for us, I never write off a Mourinho team!”
Chelsea moved top of the table on Sunday thanks to their 1-0 win over Middlesbrough in the Premier League, when Diego Costa scored the only goal of the game.
The Blues are aiming to bounce back from their disappointing 10th-placed finish in the top flight last season.
