Paul Scholes likens N’Golo Kante to Chelsea and Real Madrid legend
The Manchester United legend singles out Antonio Conte's summer signing for special praise
Paul Scholes likened N’Golo Kante to Claude Makelele after Chelsea’s 5-0 victory over Everton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
The Belgium international broke the deadlock in the 19th minute before Marcos Alonso doubled the home side’s lead less than a minute later.
Diego Costa scored his ninth Premier League goal of the season just three minutes before half-time and Hazard added his second of the game in the 55th minute.
Former Barcelona midfielder Pedro Rodriguez completed the five-goal rout with his first Premier League strike of the 2016-17 season.
Kante didn’t manage to get on the score sheet after the France international netted in Chelsea’s 4-0 win against Manchester United in their previous home fixture in the Premier League.
The defensive midfielder moved to Chelsea in a £32m deal from defending champions Leicester City in the summer transfer window after playing a key role in the Foxes’ surprise title triumph.
Former Manchester United midfielder Scholes lavished praise on Kante after Chelsea’s demolition of Everton.
“He was a big signing. He had a great year with Leicester,” Scholes told BT Sport after Chelsea’s 5-0 win against Everton.
“He isn’t the flashiest of players. He isn’t a player who will stand out that much. He can win the ball and he can give it to his better players. He gives the rest of the team confidence.
“He is very similar to Claude Makelele when he played at Chelsea. He keeps things very simple.”
