Paul Scholes sends blunt warning to Man United about key game
Paul Scholes warns Manchester United against complacency in the Europa League this season
Paul Scholes has warned Manchester United that they cannot afford to take anything for granted ahead of their crunch Europa League clash against Zorya next month.
The Red Devils took a big step towards qualification for the last 32 of Europe’s second tier club competition thanks to their 4-0 win over Feyenoord at Old Trafford on Thursday night.
That result left Jose Mourinho’s men needing only a point from their final group game in Ukraine as they look to make it through in the Europa League.
However, former Manchester United midfielder Scholes has warned the Red Devils against complacency as they prepare for the clash next month.
Speaking on BT Sport on Thursday night, Scholes said: “You’d expect them to [win] but it’s not always as easy as that. They’ve struggled a little bit away from home in Europe. It isn’t easy to go away from home and win.
“You’d expect them to at least get a draw. It was a difficult game at home, they only managed to get a 1-0 win. You’d expect them to go through. It would be a major disappointment if they didn’t go through now.”
Manchester United return to Premier League action on Sunday with a home clash against West Ham United at Old Trafford.
