Petr Cech: This Arsenal player can become the world’s best
Petr Cech says Hector Bellerin has the potential to become the world's best full-back
Petr Cech believes that Hector Bellerin has the potential to develop into one of the world’s best full-backs at Arsenal.
The Spaniard handed the Gunners a big boost on Monday when he signed a new long term contract with the club to put an end to the speculation about his future.
Bellerin has earned a reputation as one of the Premier League’s top full-backs since his arrival at The Emirates and is widely regarded to be one of the first names on the Arsenal team sheet.
And Arsenal goalkeeper Cech believes that Bellerin is at the right club to continue to develop.
Speaking in an interview with Arsenal Player, Cech said: “He’s an outstanding player and he’s been having a fantastic season so far.
“He’s not only about speed, it’s obviously about the understanding he has with other people in the team.
“You can use him as well as a fake winger, because with his speed and ability to go forward at the right time, it’s a big asset in our game.
“When you have a right-back who can attack and still has the legs to come back, then you can use him with a lot of freedom. You want people to do their jobs properly and he defends well and is a big threat going forward.
“Obviously we are pleased that he has signed the new contract because you want to keep your outstanding players.
“He can compete to be one of the best right backs in the world, because he has all these abilities. If he keeps working in the same way he’s been working, there is still room for improvement in his game with a bit more experience and more games under his belt. He can go really far.”
Bellerin is currently sidelined with an ankle injury but will be hoping to return to action in time for the hectic festive period in the Premier League.
Arsenal are currently gearing up for their crunch clash with Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
