The Arsenal midfielder is hoping the Gunners can book their place in the EFL Cup semi-final on Wednesday night
Granit Xhaka has urged his Arsenal team-mates to book their place in the EFL Cup semi-final ahead of Wednesday night’s clash against Southampton at The Emirates.
The Switzerland midfielder helped Arsenal ease to a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon thanks to goals from Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott.
Arsenal failed to win any silverware last season after the north London outfit finished in second place behind Leicester City but 10 points adrift of the eventual champions.
Arsene Wenger signed Xhaka in the summer transfer window in an attempt to bolster his squad in search of an elusive Premier League title – the Gunners haven’t won the top-flight trophy since 2004.
The Switzerland midfielder appears to be relishing the prospect of reaching his first League Cup semi-final after Xhaka posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:
“👉Keep the ball rolling ⚽️ and into the next round of the EFL cup. 🏆 ★★★ ⚓#GX29 @Arsenal @ISouthampton #WILL #UnderArmour”
