The Chelsea defender is upbeat after completing 90 minutes for a Blues development squad
Kurt Zouma has completed 90 minutes for the first time since the Chelsea defender’s recovery from a knee injury.
The France international helped the west London side secure victory in the Checkatrade Trophy thanks to a 13-12 penalty shootout win over Oxford United at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
Zouma was part of a Chelsea development side that eased to a thrilling victory over League One side Oxford, although the Blues won’t progress to the knockout phase of the competition.
The Chelsea centre-half suffered a serious knee injury during a 1-1 with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in February.
The former Saint-Etienne defender made his third appearance for the Chelsea Under-21 side since the horror injury earlier this year.
Zouma posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption:
“First 90 minutes yesterday night ✅ Well done to all the team for the great performance thanks a lot for the support PS : @bradcollins_ sorry for the volley but try to make these saves earlier bro #cfcdev”
The French defender will be facing a battle to break back into a Chelsea first-team that hasn’t conceded a goal in their last five Premier League games.
Chelsea are in second place in the Premier League table and a point adrift of leaders Liverpool.
