Georginio Wijnaldum reflects on his partnership with a 'real striker'
Georginio Wijnaldum may be enjoying life in Jurgen Klopp’s exciting Liverpool team but the Dutch midfielder still has fond memories of playing with one striker.
The Netherlands international has been a huge hit with Liverpool supporters following his £25m move to the Merseyside outfit from Newcastle United in the summer.
Wijnaldum scored his first Reds goal before the international break after the talented midfielder netted Liverpool’s sixth in a 6-1 victory over Watford.
The former PSV Eindhoven star is playing alongside Liverpool’s in-form quartet of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane.
However, Wijnaldum has good memories of playing alongside a world-class striker – Roy Makaay – during his Feyenoord career.
Wijnaldum posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote:
“#tbt with a real striker”
Liverpool will return to Premier League action this weekend when the Reds will take on Southampton at St Mary’s.
The 18-time English champions are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table and are a point ahead of second-placed Chelsea.
