The Manchester United manager and his star striker preview their Europa League clash against Feyenoord
Jose Mourinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic answered questions from the media at Carrington training ground on Wednesday ahead of Manchester United’s clash against Feyenoord.
The Red Devils will be looking to make a swift return to winning ways in the Europa League at Old Trafford after a 2-1 loss to Fenerbahce in their last European fixture.
Ibrahimovic moved to Manchester United in the summer transfer from Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain following Mourinho’s appointment as Louis van Gaal’s successor.
The 35-year-old, who previously played for Eredivisie giants Ajax, has scored one Europa League goal in the 2016-17 campaign so far after netting the winner in a 1-0 victory over Zorya Luhansk.
Quizzed about Ajax’s rivalry with Thursday night’s opponents Feyenoord, Ibrahimovic told his pre-match media conference:
“”When I was at Ajax, Feyenoord won nothing. I have no feelings for Feyenoord, only for Ajax – I had a great time there and played with many great players.”
Mourinho, meanwhile, will be looking to win Europe’s second tier competition for the second time after guiding Porto to victory over Celtic in 2003.
The Red Devils boss is feeling optimistic ahead of Thursday night’s Europa League clash against Feyenoord.
“Playing well, the future can be bright,” Mourinho told his media conference on Wednesday afternoon. “The team is happy with the direction where we are going in terms of the structure, dynamic and principles of our football.”
