Ray Parlour claims Liverpool are better now than with Luis Suarez
Ray Parlour believes Jurgen Klopp's current Liverpool side is better than Brendan Rodgers' 2013-14 runners-up
Ray Parlour believes Jurgen Klopp’s current Liverpool side are better than Brendan Rodgers’ outfit that finished as Premier League runners-up in 2014.
The Reds are currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table and a point ahead of second-placed Chelsea after a 6-1 victory over Watford last weekend.
Liverpool have scored a staggering 30 goals in 11 Premier League games to notched up eight top-flight victories, including impressive wins at Arsenal and Chelsea.
Only promoted side Burnley have beaten Klopp’s side in the 2016-17 campaign and Liverpool have drawn with title rivals Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Former Arsenal midfielder Parlour believes the current crop are better than Rodgers’ side that contained the likes of Luis Suarez, Raheem Sterling and Steven Gerrard.
Parlour told the Alan Brazil Up Front podcast: “Are they better now than the 2013-14 season when they had Suarez, Gerrard, Sturridge and Sterling? Going forward they were unbelievable. Are they a better side now? I think they could be.”
Rodgers’ side finished in second place in the Premier League table and four points adrift of eventual champions Manchester City.
Liverpool will make the trip to Southampton in their next top-flight game at St Mary’s on Saturday 19 November.
