Ray Wilkins makes confident prediction about Chelsea and Liverpool

The former Man United man is backing Chelsea and Liverpool to finish in the Premier League's top four

Chelsea and Liverpool will finish in the Premier League’s top four this season, according to Ray Wilkins.

Jurgen Klopp’s are the Premier League’s pace-setters after hoisting themselves above Chelsea thanks to a 6-1 win against Watford in their last game before the international break.

The Blues are a point behind the leaders after Chelsea eased to a 5-0 victory over Ronald Koeman’s Everton side at Stamford Bridge to extend their winning run to five Premier League games.

Chelsea and Liverpool aren’t playing in the Champions League or the Europa League this season after the Premier League giants finished outside the top four in the 2015-16 season.

Former Manchester United midfielder Wilkins is confident that Chelsea and Liverpool will secure a place in the Premier League’s top four this term.

Asked if Chelsea or Liverpool will drop out of top four, Wilkins told Alan Brazil Up Front podcast: “No – they’ve no European football.”

Liverpool will return to Premier League action this weekend with a clash against Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday.
