Arsenal are set to hold crunch talks with Mesut Ozil about a new contract at The Emirates, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Express is reporting that the north London club are set to step up their negotiations with the Germany international amid reports that Manchester United could be interested in making a move for the playmaker.
The same story states that Ozil is seeking a substantial increase in his £140,000 a week wages with the north London side.
Ozil’s current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2018 after he signed a five-year deal with the Gunners upon his arrival from Real Madrid in January 2013.
The article goes on to claim that talks between Ozil and Arsenal are already at an advanced stage as the Gunners look to tie down the Germany international to a new deal.
It also says that the Gunners are keen to tie down Alexis Sanchez to a new contract, with the Chilean’s deal set to expire in the summer of 2018 as well.
