Rio Ferdinand comments on Philippe Coutinho’s Liverpool injury
The former Manchester United midfielder says Philippe Coutinho will be a big miss for Liverpool
Rio Ferdinand has admitted that Philippe Coutinho will be a big miss for Liverpool after the Brazilian picked up an injury against Sunderland on Saturday.
The Brazilian playmaker was carried off on a stretcher in the first half of Liverpool’s 2-0 win at Anfield after suffering a suspected ankle injury.
The injury looked to be serious, although it is not officially known how long the playmaker will be out of action for.
Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand has admitted that he is a big admirer of Coutinho and says he will be a big miss for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Speaking on BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight Show, Ferdinand said: “He’s their main man. He’s their inspiration, the guy who when it’s tight waves his magic wand and finds that pass or finds that shot.
“He’ll be a big miss.”
Liverpool are currently second in the Premier League table and a point behind leaders Chelsea after 13 games of the new season.
Klopp has been tasked with steering the Reds back into the Champions League after their eighth placed finish last term.
