Rio Ferdinand reacts on Twitter to Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with PSG

The former Manchester United defender is critical of Arsenal's poor defending after their Champions League setback

Rio Ferdinand was critical of Arsenal’s sloppy defending after Wednesday night’s 2-2 draw with Paris Saint-Germain at The Emirates.

Uruguay international Edinson Cavani broke the deadlock for the visitors in the first half of the Champions League clash with a close-range finish.

However, Alexis Sanchez won Arsenal a penalty in added time at the end of the first half and Olivier Giroud dispatched his spot-kick.

Arsene Wenger’s side edged into the lead for the first time on Wednesday night after Italy international Marco Verratti turned the ball into his own net.

However, Brazilian midfielder Lucas Moura headed past Arsenal’s second-choice goalkeeper David Ospina to level the Champions League clash.

And former Manchester United defender Ferdinand wasn’t impressed with Arsenal’s defending for PSG’s equaliser in the 73rd minute.

Ferdinand, who was part of Manchester United’s Champions League-winning side in 2008, pointed out that Cavani had the chances to win the game.

Arsenal have beaten Basel at The Emirates and Bulgarian side Ludogorets home and away in the Champions League group stage.

The Gunners will return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon when the north London side host Bournemouth.
