Rio Ferdinand reassures Man United over Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The former Manchester United defender is confident Zlatan Ibrahimovic will get out of his rut
Rio Ferdinand has reassured Manchester United that Zlatan Ibrahimovic supporters will rediscover his goal-scoring form at Old Trafford.
The Swedish striker hasn’t scored in his last six Premier League games after the 35-year-old missed a handful of chances to score Manchester United’s winner in a goalless draw with promoted side Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Ibrahimovic has scored one goal in his last 10 appearances for the 20-time English champions after towering centre-forward moved to the Red Devils on a free transfer from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the summer window.
Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand issued his backing for the former AC Milan and Juventus striker despite his well-documented struggles over the past couple of months.
“Ibrahimovic has scored just once in his last 10 appearances and the team need him to get out of this rut,” Ferdinand told The Evening Standard.
“But he is an experienced player and knows what he needs to do. It will happen eventually, they just need it to end sooner rather than later.”
Ibrahimovic scored four times in his first four appearances for Manchester United following his summer move to the 20-time English champions.
The Red Devils are in eighth place in the Premier League table and eight points adrift of leaders Manchester City.
