Robbie Savage reveals where he ranks Liverpool squad in the title race
The former Leicester City man says Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp doesn't have the best squad in the title race
Robbie Savage believes Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United all have better squads than Liverpool in the Premier League title race.
Jurgen Klopp’s squad depth is set to be tested in the coming weeks after Philippe Coutinho suffered ankle ligament damage during their 2-0 win against Sunderland at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
England midfielder Adam Lallana missed the Premier League clash with an injury problem, while Roberto Firmino was forced off in the closing minutes after picking up a knock.
To compound matters, Klopp is set to be without in-form summer signing Sadio Mane in January and February as the forward links up with the Senegal squad for the African Cup of Nations.
Liverpool are in second place in the Premier League table and a point behind leaders Chelsea ahead of their trip to Bournemouth in their next Premier League fixture next weekend.
Asked where Liverpool’s squad ranks in the title race during BBC Radio Five Live’s 606 show after Saturday’s 2-0 win against Sunderland, Savage said:
“I think Manchester City have the best squad in the Premier League and then Chelsea. Then, I’d say Manchester United.
“I don’t think Liverpool have got the deepest squad. Look at their bench today: Klavan, Moreno, Lucas Leiva, Simon Mignolet, Divock Origi, Ben Woodburn and Elio Elijera. They haven’t got the best squad.”
