Robbie Savage: Why this Liverpool star my player of the season
The former Leicester midfielder lavishes praise on Liverpool's Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho
Robbie Savage says Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho is his player of the season – so far.
The Brazil international scored in Liverpool’s 6-1 win against Walter Mazzarri’s Watford side at Anfield in their last Premier League game before the international break.
Coutinho has scored five goals and has made five assists in 11 Premier League appearances in the 2016-17 season so far.
Liverpool are sitting at the top of the Premier League table and a point clear of second-placed Chelsea in the Premier League title race.
Former Leicester City midfielder Savage has lavished praise on Coutinho after the Brazilian’s excellent start to the current campaign.
Asked to name his player of the season so far, Savage told BBC Radio Five Live’s 606 show:
“Philippe Coutinho has been unbelievable.”
Coutinho moved to Liverpool in an £8.5m deal from Serie A giants Inter Milan in the January transfer window in 2013.
The Reds will make the trip to Southampton in their next Premier League game at St Mary’s on Saturday afternoon.
