Roberto Firmino delivers verdict on Jurgen Klopp’s ‘thoughtful’ Liverpool signings
The Liverpool forward heaps praise on Jurgen Klopp's summer signings
Roberto Firmino has heaped praise on Jurgen Klopp’s “thoughtful” Liverpool signings in the summer transfer window.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager led the Reds to an eighth-place finish in the 2015-16 Premier League season after the German was appointed as Brendan Rodgers’ successor back in October 2015.
Klopp guided the 18-time English champions to two cup finals where Liverpool lost to Manchester City and Sevilla in the League Cup and Europa League showpieces last term.
The Liverpool boss signed seven players in the summer transfer window as Klopp looked to transform the Merseyside outfit into top-four contenders.
Southampton winger Sadio Mane, Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum and Schalke defender Joel Matip have all been particularly impressive.
Liverpool attacking midfielder Firmino lavished praise on Klopp’s summer signings ahead of Saturday’s trip to Southampton in the Premier League.
“The signings to strengthen our squad [in the summer] were thoughtful and improved our football,” Firmino told O Globo – as quoted by Liverpool’s website.
“It is too early to talk about the title, but the fans can rest assured that we will give our best to achieve good things at the end of the season.”
Firmino has scored five goals in 11 Premier League appearances in the 2016-17 season.
