Ryan Giggs reacts to Man United’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal
The Manchester United legend reflects on a disappointing 1-1 draw with Arsenal
Ryan Giggs admitted that he was disappointed with Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal after Olivier Giroud scored a late equaliser at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils were on top for most of the first half but Jose Mourinho’s side couldn’t make the breakthrough as Antonio Valencia was denied a penalty after a collision with Nacho Monreal.
Ander Herrera earned his first Spain cap against England on Tuesday night and the Manchester United midfielder polished off a good week with an assist for Juan Mata’s opener in the 69th minute.
The Spain playmaker placed a calm finish past his former Chelsea team-mate Petr Cech with the Arsenal defence out of position.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger looked to be heading for another defeat against his nemsis Mourinho but the Frenchman’s substitutions combined to rescue a late point.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain crossed for Giroud and the France striker’s thunderous header beat Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.
Speaking to Sky Sports after a 1-1 draw, Giggs delivered his verdict on whether Mourinho’s side deserved three points from the Premier League clash.
“Disappointing from a Man United perspective, losing the late goal, because they were by far the better team.
“They weren’t brilliant but there was only team that was going to win that game.
“They looked dangerous, especially down the right-hand side. Antonio Valencia was very good second half.”
