Michael Owen states his prediction for Swansea v Man United

Michael Owen looks ahead to Manchester United's Premier League trip to Swansea City on Sunday

Michael Owen is backing Manchester United to secure a much-needed win in the Premier League against Swansea City on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils head into the game under pressure to secure a victory after their 2-1 Europa League defeat by Fenerbahce in Turkey on Thursday night.

United are winless in four attempts in the Premier League and head into this weekend’s fixtures eight points behind leaders Manchester City after 10 games of the new season.

Their poor run in the top flight has heaped plenty of pressure onto new manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

However, former United striker Owen is expecting to see the Red Devils return to winning ways by claiming all three points against Swansea at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Both sides badly need a win for different reasons, but I think United will pick up all three points in South Wales although the Red Devils have lost their last two at the Liberty Stadium in the league.

“In an era where a high energy pressing game is the norm it is perhaps significant that United have covered the lowest distance in the division so far this season although, as a former striker, if a side has only scored once with their last 91 shots that might be a more damming statistic!

“United’s class to prevail.”
