Thierry Henry: Juan Mata is Man United’s best player
The former Arsenal striker heaps praise on Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata
Thierry Henry says Juan Mata is Manchester United’s man of the moment after the midfielder scored in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal.
The Red Devils made the breakthrough against their bitter rivals thanks to the Spain international’s composed finish in the 69th minute at Old Trafford.
Mata’s opener was cancelled out with less than 90 seconds remaining after Olivier Giroud guided a header past Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.
The 28-year-old has now scored three times in the Premier League this term against Bournemouth, Leicester City and Arsenal.
The World Cup winner netted the winner in Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the League Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford last month.
Speaking to Sky Sports after Manchester United’s 1-1 stalemate with his former club Arsenal, Henry heaped praise on the Spanish midfielder.
“He is the guy now, the man at the moment, scoring so many goals for Mourinho and Man United. I thought he had a good game today. He’s been responding well in the new role that he has.
“Sometimes he plays behind the striker sometimes he plays out wide. He understand what the game is asking from him so when he needs to make those runs in the box, he’s there.”
Mata moved to Manchester United from Chelsea in the 2013 January transfer window in a £37.1m deal.
