Tottenham legend makes reluctant admission about Chelsea
Garth Crooks was impressed with Chelsea's performance in a 2-1 win against his former club Tottenham
Chelsea are starting to look like Premier League champions, according to Garth Crooks.
The Blues eased to a 2-1 win against their title rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Saturday evening to extend their winning run to seven games.
Denmark international Christian Eriksen broke the deadlock in the 11th minute with a powerful long-range strike to end the west London side’s run of sixth successive clean sheets.
However, Antonio Conte’s side responded before half-time after Spain international Pedro Rodriguez curled a finish past Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
The Blues edged into a second-half lead six minutes after the break thanks to Victor Moses’ close-range finish and Chelsea held on to secure a vital three points in the title race.
Former Tottenmhan man Crooks believes it is starting to look like it will be Chelsea’s season after the Blues recorded a seventh successive Premier League victory.
“It was a monumental victory for Chelsea on Saturday. Believe me, as a former Spurs player, I take no comfort in saying this, but Chelsea are starting to play like champions,” Crooks told BBC Sport.
Chelsea will make the trip to Premier League title rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium next weekend.
