Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Man United was a step down from PSG
Zlatan Ibrahimovic talks openly about his transfer to Manchester United this summer
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has admitted that swapping Paris Saint-Germain for Manchester United was a step down for the striker.
The Swedish forward joined the Red Devils on a free transfer in the summer after Jose Mourinho’s appointment as the club’s new manager back in May.
Ibrahimovic has made a strong start to life at United and has already scored eight goals in all competitions for the Red Devils.
The 35-year-old forward has been a regular fixture in the Manchester United first-team since his arrival at the club but the Red Devils have struggled to find consistent form so far this term.
Manchester United currently trail Premier League leaders Chelsea by nine points after 12 games of the new campaign as they look to climb back up the table.
Despite admitting that joining United was a step down, Ibrahimovic said that the decision to move to Old Trafford was an easy one.
Ibrahimovic told Aftonbladet: “The team I signed for this summer is not as strong as the one I left.
“But when Mourinho called the decision was easy.
“When he calls I have no problem coming, all we had to decide was when I was to be presented as Man United player.
“The rest, the financial deal, was not the difficult part.”
Manchester United take on Feyenoord in the Europa League at Old Trafford on Thursday night.
