Alan Shearer reacts to Diego Costa’s display in Chelsea’s 3-1 win at Man City
The Premier League legend heaps praise on Chelsea striker Diego Costa
Alan Shearer singled out Diego Costa’s performance for special praise after Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
The Blues fell behind in the first half at the Etihad Stadium after Gary Cahill scored an own goal to break the deadlock in the top of the table clash.
However, Costa managed to control Cesc Fabregas’ long pass before the Spanish striker placed a finish past Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo to level in the 60th minute.
Chelsea substitute Willian edged the visitors into a slender lead after a clinical finish on the break before Eden Hazard sealed three points with a well-taken goal.
Costa has now scored 11 times in 14 Premier League appearances this season to underline his status as one of Europe’s deadliest finishers.
And arguably the Premier League’s greatest-ever centre-forward Shearer lavished praise on the Chelsea man for his influential performance.
What a great game! Costa Man of the Match. Bullied the @mcfc defenders 💪🏻💪🏻 #cityvcfc
