Alan Shearer issues stark warning to Chelsea’s title rivals

The Newcastle United legend believes Chelsea look like they're in imperious form in the title race

Alan Shearer has admitted that Chelsea look very strong in all departments after their 12th successive Premier League win on Boxing Day.

The west London side eased to a 3-0 win against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge thanks to Pedro Rodriguez’s goals either side of half-time and Eden Hazard’s penalty.

Chelsea haven’t lost a Premier League fixture since a 3-0 loss to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in September and have suffered just two defeats in the 2016-17 top-flight campaign.

Antonio Conte’s side have kept a remarkable nine clean sheets during their 12-game winning run which includes victories over title rivals Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Blues will return to Premier League action on New Year’s Eve when Conte’s men host Stoke City at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day show on Boxing Day, former Newcastle United striker Shearer delivered a glowing verdict on Chelsea in the Premier League title race.

“They look so strong in every department. They are so confident. They have 12 wins on the spin which is a Chelsea record,” Shearer said.

“It was without two of their big hitters – Kante and Costa. They’ve got guys who can run with the ball at pace and that causes teams big big problems like it did against Bournemouth.”
