Alan Shearer: What Chelsea are really good at doing

The Premier League icon has been impressed with Chelsea's threat on the counter-attack

Alan Shearer has hailed Chelsea’s ability to exploit Premier League teams on the counter-attack after their 3-0 win against Bournemouth on Boxing Day.

Antonio Conte’s side were looking to secure a 12th successive Premier League victory without suspended Diego Costa and N’Golo Kante at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea edged into a first-half lead thanks to Pedro Rodriguez’s precise finish to give Conte’s men a slender lead after a dominant start from Bournemouth.

Eden Hazard extended the Premier League leaders’ advantage after half-time after the Belgium winger was brought down in the area and converted from the spot.

Pedro added a third in added time at the end of the Boxing Day clash after the Spain international’s strike was deflected past Bournemouth goalkeeper Artur Boruc.

Speaking on Match Of The Day on Monday night, former Newcastle United striker Shearer pointed that Chelsea are a dangerous side on the break thanks to the pace of Hazard, Pedro and Willian.

“This is what Chelsea are brilliant at,” Shearer said.

“They’ve got guys with pace who can drag the team forward. David Luiz was in the penalty area! Pedro was brilliant and Eden Hazard is in scintillating form.

“He has the ability to run with the ball. He caused them so many problems. Willian had a fantastic game. He is another one who can do it. They caused Bournemouth huge problems.”
