Alan Smith makes prediction about Arsenal and Man United in top-four race

The Arsenal legend is tipping Arsene Wenger's side to beat Manchester United to a top-four finish

Alan Smith believes Arsenal will finish above Manchester United in the top-four race.

The Gunners have endured a miserable week after Arsene Wenger’s side suffered back-to-back Premier League defeats to leave their title hopes in tatters in recent weeks.

Arsenal lost 2-1 to Everton at Goodison Park last week despite Alexis Sanchez scoring a first-half free-kick on Merseyside.

Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling overturned a 1-0 deficit to help Manchester City ease to a 2-1 win against the Gunners on Sunday.

Manchester United, on the other hand, have racked up three successive Premier League victories to move the Red Devils to within four points of fourth-placed Arsenal.

The 20-time English champions have beaten Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion in their last three Premier League games.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ on Wednesday morning, former Arsenal striker Smith backed the Gunners to pip Manchester United to a top-four finish.

“I think Arsenal will pip Manchester United and still finish in the top four. I think in fourth – not the top three,” Smith said.
